Paul Hocking Resigns from INFINZ
INFINZ was formed nine years ago - in May 2002 - from the merger of the Society of Investment Analysts and the Society of Corporate Treasurers. Since then it has established itself as the pre-eminent body representing professionals working in the New Zealand financial services industry.
Much of the success of INFINZ over its life is due to the contribution of its members working in a range of activities from: serving on the board; judging Awards; participating in working groups preparing submissions on new legislation; speaking at forums and conferences; writing journal articles; and so on. INFINZ itself is very lean and frugal so it depends heavily on contributions of time and effort from its members.
But INFINZ would not have got to the strong position that it is in today if had relied solely on the efforts of its members. Much of the credit for our success must be attributed to our hardworking executive and secretariat of three (part time), led by Paul Hocking. Paul first did a lot of the pre-work in 2001 and 2002 which resulted in the merger which created INFINZ. Later in 2002 he became INFINZ’s first Executive Director, a post which he has held until now. Over that time, he has steered INFINZ skilfully from its infancy to the mature and strong body that it is now. As members will know, Paul recently resigned, and left INFINZ in April.
On behalf of the Board and the Members of INFINZ our thanks go to Paul for his contributions to INFINZ over the last nine years, and we all wish him well in his future endeavours.
(Paul Hocking)
