2012 has been another successful year for INFINZ that saw a number of firsts - our membership base passed 700, more than 750 people attended the INFINZ Awards, INFINZ advocacy activities received increased media profile and we launched the INFINZ breakfast series.

The Awards evening will be held on 8 May 2013 at The Langham in Auckland. In 2012, more than 750 attended this sell-out event. There have been significant changes to some existing Awards and two new Awards introduced for 2013. Whilst more information will be supplied to members in the New Year, we wish to flag some significant changes.

The Cabinet Paper addressing the policy behind the proposed review of securites laws has been released. INFINZ will now begin an intensive review process utilising the Working Group it established in 2010 to address the review of securites laws. The proposed timetable should see new securities law enacted by the ned of 2012

The response to the call for nominations in the various INFINZ Awards is very pleasing and the outcomes should prove to be very interesting. The number of nominations is high.

There has been media coverage given to dissatisfaction in some quarters with the provisions of the Financial Markets (Regulators and Kiwisaver) Bill. INFINZ made a submission on 9 November which is broadly supportive of the Bill.
