We have an exciting opportunity for an intermediate lawyer to join our award winning and highly regarded Legal Group to assist in managing legal risk in relation to the Transaction Banking business unit. Transaction Banking, which is part of the Institutional division of ANZ New Zealand, provides trade finance, clearing and cash payment and management solutions to its customers both here in New Zealand and in other countries.
Reporting to the Associate General Counsel - Institutional, this role focuses on working with the Transaction Banking business unit to achieve its objectives by ensuring quality, timely, commercially relevant and cost effective legal services are provided, ensuring legal risks are mitigated where they arise and that appropriate governance is followed. You will work closely with other Institutional lawyers here in New Zealand and offshore, regularly liaise with key stakeholders within ANZ in New Zealand and in other countries and externally and work collaboratively on projects that affect the wider ANZ group.
Role Type- Permanent
To be successful in this role, you will have as a minimum an LLB qualification and a current New Zealand practicing certificate with at least 7 years post qualification experience and strong business and commercial acumen. You will come from a large/top tier law firm or a large in-house banking/finance/commercial/corporate business legal team and have experience in banking/finance law and/or commercial/corporate law.
You will have experience working in matrix management structures, be able to manage competing priorities, have worked with the senior management of organisations and be able to demonstrate your ability to gain the respect of, and influence, internal and external stakeholders.
