Head of Risk, Compliance and Governance

The company

Invercargill based business that distributes niche insurance products both directly and through partnership channels. This company manufactures it's own products, and "white labels" others, and has a focus on improving what they can offer to the client base.

The Role

This is a newly created position with focus across risk, compliance & governance. You'll have 2 direct reports with an additional 2 to 3 indirect reports.

Reporting into the CEO, you're an integral part of the executive team. This is a niche financial services organisation; a business of this size needs someone who operates strategically but also understands the need to be involved in the detail.

Your key responsibilities are:

  • Build and maintain strong relationships across key senior level internal and external stakeholders
  • Identify, manage, monitor and report on risks across the business RMP (and also ensure the current framework is fit for purpose). You'll ensure the business complies with all statutory and regulatory requirements and is conducting its business in line with expectations.
  • Drive the cultural integration of risk practices across the business and take the lead on any integration of new practices across the organisation.
  • You'll have oversight of the claims management process (and underwriting guideline adherence).
  • Leadership and the development of your team and others across the business.
  • Contribute to the strategic and annual plans for the business and then be involved in the implementation of projects that arise from this.

You'll be experienced in risk, compliance or the legal arena and present examples of similar work undertaken previously. Your energy, aptitude and approach to leadership will see you succeed.

What's on offer

A competitive base salary (plus benefits) and a key leadership position for the organisation. You'll have broad "ownership" of all key relationships in relation to risk and deal with influential companies/individuals across the industry.

**Being a key leadership position this role will be based in the Invercargill offices.**
