Calibre Partners is a well-established financial advisory and restructuring firm. 

Our corporate finance team offers advice on complex financial arrangements.  The team prepares the majority of the Independent Adviser’s Reports for large NZX listed companies that are subject to a takeover offer or scheme of arrangement.  These reports are prepared for shareholders and are governed by the Takeovers Code.  We have a leading market position for the preparation of expert evidence focused on businesses valuation and the quantification of financial losses.  

Our wider team provides a broad range of restructuring and advisory services to distressed companies and we are commonly involved in New Zealand’s largest and most high-profile insolvencies.  This often results in sell-side mandates for distressed businesses. 

The successful candidate is likely to have at least 10 years’ corporate finance experience, gained in a corporate finance team of a ‘big four’ accounting firm, or specialist corporate finance firm. Consideration will also be given to candidates who have been part of an in-house corporate development/strategy team, who have strong technical financial skills and began their careers in one of the ‘big four’. 

We are after someone who is currently at either Associate Director or Director level. 

The ideal candidate will have significant experience in corporate finance work, including business valuations, preparing and analysing integrated financial models, undertaking litigation support work (such as loss quantification), and undertaking sell-side transaction services.  A strong understanding of valuation principles is essential. 

Key skills and attributes 

  • 10 years’ plus experience in corporate finance 
  • Strong technical skills and exceptional understanding of valuation / financial concepts 
  • Commercially apt in handling clients / stakeholder management
  • Developed people management skills and training capabilities for junior staff 
  • Ability to work under pressure while maintaining accuracy and efficiency 
  • Proven ability to solve highly analytical problems 
  • High attention to detail 
  • Strong writing skills 
  • Able to argue / support their own point of view 

The role requires good interpersonal skills, both with clients and colleagues. This includes having a good rapport with clients, experience guiding and coaching juniors, and an ability to clearly communicate views and opinions to other team members, right up to the Partner level. 

The role will suit someone who has a strong focus on execution and delivery.
