TTS is looking for a Global Solution Sales (“GSS”) for it’s Corporate and Public Sector business which forms part of a specialised team that originates cash and trade solutions with NZ corporations, large multi-nationals doing business in NZ, and NZ Government Agencies where Citi is the only foreign bank on the All of Government banking panel.

The GSS role partners with corporate banking, implementation, product and service to originate TTS solutions in New Zealand and around the world for our Corporate and Government customers. The role combines growing existing client revenue with hunting new business development opportunities across new clients within Citi’s target market.

Citi’s customers are large, sophisticated, and operate in multiple offshore locations, so the successful applicant will need to possess strong interpersonal skills, professional maturity, a sound knowledge of treasury, accounting and finance needs, and a good understanding of payments across different industries.

A key driver of success will be building strong relationships with key customer contacts, using data to analyse client problems, proactively originating and closing new opportunities whilst partnering with internal stakeholders to meet our business goals in the NZ market.

The job is challenging but rewarding and should be viewed as a great opportunity for experienced sales, relationship management or product people working at a domestic or global bank, or a payment expert or corporate treasurer from financial technology or a local corporate, that wants to take the next step in their career with the world’s largest transaction bank. There will be strong support from local management, and regional sales team members to ensure success.

Key Accountabilities
  • Achieve financial targets including client revenue, originated deals, deal wins, and pipeline growth across target clients in the corporate and public sector
  • Engage in account planning to understand client requirements and devise a strategy to help them achieve their objectives
  • Develop a trusted advisor status with key client relationships and bring them fresh ideas that deepens their global relationship with Citi
  • Build a strong partnership with the corporate banking team (Relationship Managers) and TTS teams from product, implementation and service to achieve optimal outcomes for clients
  • Partner with Citi’s regional and global sales teams to ensure seamless coordination on regional and global deals and to stay plugged into the latest trends, product launches and business strategy
  • Requires a commercial awareness of global client trends influencing treasury and finance, and can apply local and global developments to champion progress for our products, and can position Citi’s product capabilities to clients in order to continue to be a market leader
  • Develop an action plan to seek and action VOC (Voice of the Client) feedback and then partner with cross-functional and coverage teams to execute against plan
  • Invest time to keep track of competition, market trends, new technologies
  • Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating consideration of the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citi, its clients, and assets
Key Skills And Experiences Required
  • Background in Transaction Banking, Relationship or Account Management, Corporate Treasury, Finance & Accounting, treasury consulting, financial technology (FinTech) sales or business development, NZ payments industry
  • Experience working with NZ corporates and / or public sector with preference to candidates that can bring a network of contacts
  • Understanding of cash, trade and treasury management products is preferred and their applicability to large and sophisticated customer requirements
  • Understanding of corporate card solutions including T&E, P-Cards and Virtual Cards
  • Understanding of foreign exchange
  • Experience with client sales cycles including CRM systems an advantage
  • Experience with client onboarding including account opening, KYC and AML processes
  • Exposure to corporate banking including credit is an advantage as many solutions will form part of a larger corporate banking relationship/strategy for Citi
  • Understanding of the working capital cycle for corporate clients including influence on balance sheets
  • Strong marketing and selling skills with a client-first attitude
  • Able to design client sales strategies and execute
  • Ability to develop and build strong client relationships at a senior level (C-Suite) within the client organisation
  • Keen to learn new skills and understand emerging payment technologies
  • Experience working with cross functional teams an advantage (business, technology, risk, client experience)
  • Cash and / or Trade qualifications would be preferred
  • Tertiary qualifications are not essential but desirable
