Manager, Strategy and Transactions (Human Services)


As a Manager within the Strategy & Transactions team, you will work in a high-performing team to help our clients navigate a wide range of challenges and opportunities, from strategy, policy and business case development through to the design and implementation of service and operating model improvements.

 We are looking for people with a strong knowledge of communities, who are passionate about solving New Zealand’s most complex social issues and inequities, and who understand how policy and social and economic infrastructure can be used to catalyse social change, uplift people and build community resilience.

 This role is available in Auckland or Wellington and is offered on a full-time basis with flexible working arrangements.

 

Your key responsibilities

  • Lead the planning and delivery of high-quality work drawing on team members talent and expertise to meet client and project needs
  • Undertake research and analysis of information to provide actionable insights and to help solve complex problems
  • Leverage your knowledge of communities, people and diverse populations to provide trusted advice to our clients 
  • Build and proactively maintain effective relationships with EY’s existing clients 
  • Support business development opportunities, including building new relationships and the development of proposals 
  • Support the team to achieve revenue growth
  • Mentor and develop staff

 

Skills and attributes for success

  • Experience working on projects in an advisory or delivery role, ideally within a consultancy, Government, Māori sector or social sector environment
  • Expertise in formulating, hypothesising, analysing, evaluating, conceptualising and integrating information – for example, experience in research, policy analysis, evaluation or outcomes monitoring
  • Experience in developing new strategies, policies and practices
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, and a track record of undertaking insightful collection and analysis of insights using qualitative and/or quantitative methods
  • Effective interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate and collaborate at all levels 
  • A commitment to a strong positive team culture and enthusiasm for working in a flexible and diverse team environment
  • Demonstrated staff management and leadership skills, an ability to work effectively in project teams, and a commitment to growing and developing our people
  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree and 5-8 years professional experience in a relevant role or sector

 

Ideally, you’ll also have

  • A passion for working on some of New Zealand’s largest and most transformative social sector projects
  • An understanding of New Zealand communities and what it takes at the system level to effect grass roots change
  • An ability to work with and for Māori stakeholders and communities
  • A good understanding of New Zealand public sector dynamics, including the workings of Government, the Better Business Case framework and broad policy knowledge
  • Core values of integrity and professionalism
  • A willingness to travel domestically
