Genesis is New Zealand's largest energy retailer, supplying customers with electricity, natural gas and LPG, and generating around 20% of New Zealand's electricity across our portfolio of thermal and renewable generation sites across the country. About the role:

Reporting to Group Manager Investor Relation and Market Risk, you'll support Genesis Energy's long-term financial modelling, valuations, corporate development, and strategic investment. This pivotal role will also see you contribute to improvement and development of financial models in the Finance and Performance team and throughout Genesis.

Key responsibilities:

  • Lead and develop Genesis Energy's long-term financial modelling capability, including, asset valuation, whole of business financial models.
  • Support corporate development opportunities through evaluation of investment projects (both major capital expenditure projects and new business opportunities) including;
  • Modelling the financial viability of investment projects using discounted cash flow analysis and other valuation methodologies as appropriate.
  • Analysing the impact of investment projects on Genesis Energy's financial performance, financial position and banking covenants in collaboration with other parts of Finance like Treasury.
  • Preparation of reports, presentations, and recommendations to Genesis Energy Executive.
  • Assisting the Investor Relations function by providing analysis on equity market performance, investor targeting and supporting preparation of market disclosures.

About you:

  • At least 3 years' experience in corporate finance roles or 5+ years commercial finance experience. 
  • Experience of financial modelling and analysis of major capital projects and/or mergers and acquisition 
  • Sound knowledge of financial markets, e.g. experience in Investment Banking, Corporate Finance or Energy Markets.
  • Tertiary qualification in accounting, finance, economics, mathematics or other quantitative field.
