The Company
This is a large complex organisation providing core services to the Wider Auckland region. This business is in a phase of change and a paradigm shift in culture to drive a philosophy of customer first. The business is focusing on an agile approach to the services it delivers and an unrelenting commitment to continuous improvement and ongoing investment in their operations and people.

The Opportunity
The role of Head of Investment is a new position with a specialist mandate; to ensure the delivery of services which are customer-centric, while being cost transparent, dynamically scalable, agile and flexible to ensure customer demand is met. The Head of Investment will sit within a recently formed Investment Office function, to oversee portfolio and investment management, and to ensure capital projects are in line with this enterprises' expectations and frameworks.

Reporting through to the CFO, the Head of Investment is a leadership role with responsibility for:

  • Investment Management - Investment Lifecycle Management, ensuring a cost/benefit view of the portfolio is maintained, and the management of enterprise-wide risk
  • Service portfolio management - To establish a demand-driven service delivery while moving toward a consumption-based funding model
  • Capital plan planning and forecasting - The preparation, maintenance, and management of the Capital Plan, the on-going OPEX implications, oversight of benefit realisation, and monitoring and reporting of portfolio outcomes
  • Reporting and stakeholder management - Investment liaison and reporting, Board reporting on the annual investment plan, review Post Investment Reviews (PIRs), and reporting on operating expenditure
  • Frameworks, templates and quality assurance - Establish investment management frameworks, processes and financial templates aligned to business strategy
  • Management - lead, develop, and mentor a team of three

Skill set & experience required to be successful
You will be an experienced investment professional, with a track record in complex capital investment projects. Solutions-driven and a competent problem solver, decision-making will be one of your key strengths, with an ability to manage and influence diverse stakeholders effectively and diplomatically. You will demonstrate an appreciation for the finer details, with a refined analytical skill set.

With a genuine desire to add value to the business, you will be at your best in a hands-on role as you collaborate with multiple teams across the organisation, maintaining strong cultural awareness and sensitivity.
