About the role

The Head of Product is a newly-created role that will report to the CEO of Smartshares. You will design straightforward investment products and solutions that solve our member's financial wellbeing challenges. As Head of Product, you will be responsible for the product lifecycle from leading product research through to design creation, implementation and marketing of products to meet specific customer needs, while also ensuring compliance obligations are met.

About you

To be successful in this role you will have:

  • Extensive experience and a thorough understanding of the financial services industry, preferably in funds management
  • Relevant experience in a product management, product development or strategy role
  • Experience in product design, product compliance will be preferred. Legal training is an advantage.
  • Ability to think creatively and innovatively to bring ideas to life
  • Process management skills - good at figuring out the processes necessary to get things done
  • Knowledge of the regulatory obligations of licensed fund managers, preferably under the New Zealand Financial Markets Conduct Act (FMCA)
  • Ability to build effective relationships with colleagues, clients and other key stakeholders
  • Experience in risk and risk management processes and procedures
  • Good analytical ability, problem solving and numeracy skills.
