What would you be doing?

We're looking for a dedicated Chief Economist to lead our Economics Practice teams located in Auckland or Wellington. With clear air above, this is a fantastic opportunity to take your career to the next level, building on an existing business and market position.

You will be a Senior member of the established Leadership team and will have a strong market presence. Day to day responsibilities could include:

  • Working with a wide range of public and private sector clients to find solutions to complex economic challenges

  • Overseeing a talented team with strong data analysis and modelling capabilities

  • Managing projects with direct relevance to public policy and achieving economic outcomes in New Zealand

What do you need to bring to the role?

You will be at ease interacting with people at all levels and will demonstrate a dedication to providing exceptional client service alongside your:

  • Strong technical skills in microeconomics, with solid experience as a practicing economist

  • Expertise in one or more of urban and infrastructure, energy, water, primary and environmental economics

  • The drive to build a network of trusted client relationships and a successful economics business within PwC's wider service offering

  • The ability to develop and run thought leadership and public economic commentary

  • The ability to apply economic theory and concepts to solve practical problems

  • Be up to date with relevant areas of current economic research

  • Ability to develop innovative methodologies to respond to unique requirements and challenges.

You will possess a flexible working style and will be comfortable managing conflicting deadlines and requirements. Your toolkit will include report writing, presentation skills, and the ability to coach more junior members of the team.
