Anti-Corruption Work Programme Adviser (two-year fixed term or contract role)

The Serious Fraud Office is a highly specialised government agency responsible for investigating and prosecuting serious or complex financial crime, including bribery and corruption. We are based in Auckland with about 50 employees - 90 percent of whom have a frontline role. The central city office consists of forensic accountants, investigators, lawyers, business services and investigation support specialists.

An exciting new opportunity has arisen to join the SFO to help drive the SFO led Anti-Corruption Work Programme (ACWP) and other projects to support the strategic and operational objectives of the SFO. The ACWP initiatives and projects will help to protect New Zealand against financial crime and corruption in the public and private sectors.

We are looking for an experienced policy professional with strong research, statistical experience and practical delivery skills to develop the evidence base to inform policy development and operational decision making relating to corruption. You will work closely with internal stakeholders and external partners in leading or contributing to initiatives in the ACWP work programme.

Role includes:

  • Contributing to the delivery of the ACWP and other financial crime and corruption prevention initiatives
    • Analysing corruption prevention issues and devising solutions
    • Providing advice to the Senior Leadership Team
    • Leading workstreams or phases of ACWP delivery
    • Contributing to New Zealand's international obligations relating to corruption
    • Working closely with stakeholders and external partners to deliver ACWP initiatives and develop corruption prevention activities

We are seeking candidates with:

  • Persuasive written and oral communication skills
    • Comprehensive research, interpretation and critical analysis skills
    • An ability to successfully coordinate, advocate and negotiate
    • An ability to establish and maintain strong and broad stakeholder relationships
    • An understanding of the public sector and the machinery of Government
