Manager Strategy & Prevention

The Serious Fraud Office is a highly specialised government agency responsible for investigating and prosecuting serious or complex financial crime, including bribery and corruption. We are based in Auckland with about 50 employees - 90 percent of whom have a frontline role. The central city office consists of forensic accountants, investigators, lawyers, business services and investigation support specialists.

An exciting new opportunity has arisen to join the SFO to lead a new Strategy and Prevention team which will be responsible for driving the SFO led Anti-Corruption Work Programme (ACWP), fraud prevention activities and other projects in support of the SFO's four-year plan. The successful candidate will play a key role in developing and leading the SFO's strategies for protecting New Zealand from financial crime.

We are looking for an experienced policy professional with experience in leading a team of technical experts to deliver strategic programmes. You will work closely with internal stakeholders and external partners to ensure the effective delivery of financial crime and corruption prevention initiatives.

Role includes:

  • Leading and delivering the Anti-Corruption Work Programme and fraud prevention activities
  • Building effective relationships with stakeholders and partners
  • Contributing to New Zealand's international obligations relating to financial crime and corruption
  • Contributing to financial crime policy

We are seeking candidates with:

  • Leadership and/or management experience in either the private or public sector
  • Experience in a policy or advisory role
  • Experience in leading delivery of strategic projects or a programme of projects
  • Ability to successfully coordinate, advocate and negotiate
  • Ability to establish and maintain strong and broad stakeholder relationships
  • An understanding of the public sector

Experience in financial crime is desirable, but not essential.
