Matt Whineray - Chief Investment Officer, NZ Super Fund

Matt joined the Guardians in May 2008 as General Manager, Private Markets. He became Chief Investment Officer in 2014. Prior to joining the Guardians, Matt was Head of Financial Sponsor Coverage for non-Japan Asia at Credit Suisse in Hong Kong, a Managing Director at First NZ Capital in New Zealand and a Vice President at Credit Suisse First Boston in New York. Matt began his career as a Barrister and Solicitor with Russell McVeagh in Auckland.

Matt is a member of the Future of Investing General Agenda Council for the World Economic Forum.

On 15 August 2017 the NZ$35 billion NZ Super Fund announced that its NZ$14 billion global passive equity portfolio, 40% of the overall Fund, was now low-carbon. Read more
