Senior Manager Financial Crime Compliance - Sanctions

The opportunity

Our Financial Crime Compliance (FCC) team within Line 2 play a leading role in keeping ASB, our customers and communities safe and protected from financial crime and mitigate the risks of money laundering, terrorism financing, sanctions, bribery & corruption and tax evasion.

As a Senior Manager, you will provide leadership across ASB and manage the implementation of a robust control framework which ensures that ASB is meeting its obligations with respect to Sanctions. Acting as a key conduit between Line 2 compliance and the business, you will be a trusted advisor, ensuring our Economic Trade Sanctions Policy requirements are embedded and the control framework is functioning as required from an operational, technological and compliance perspective.

You will need to stay at the forefront of system capabilities, external regulatory developments (including BS11), operational changes and policy updates with a view to ensuring key obligations are reflected within processes owned by teams across multiple departments. Success in this role will be ability to work collaboratively, apply a pragmatic approach and challenge the effectiveness of controls through an operational and technological lens.

Skills And Experience We Are Looking For

  • In-depth knowledge of international sanctions obligations
  • Strong experience in managing sanctions compliance, preferably within a banking environment.
  • Solid understanding of the relevant systems involved in facilitating customer and payment screening
  • Good understanding of BS11 and its impact on NZ banks
  • Proven leadership experience with a track record of leading from the front by displaying a positive attitude, high integrity and empathy towards your team and broader stakeholders
