INFINZ holds a number of events each year from monthly speakers to biannual one day forums, to our premier events being the Awards Dinner and the annual Conference.

You do not need to be a member of INFINZ to attend our events. However INFINZ membership gives you price privileges at our events. The monthly speaker events are cheaper for members, and delegates to our annual conference pay considerably less if they are members. INFINZ educational events qualify for CPD hours for other professional bodies such as IOD, NZICA and the Law Society.

INFINZ holds a number of events each year from monthly speakers to one day forums, to our premier events being the Awards Dinner and the annual conference.

All of our events provide networking opportunities, including the annual INFINZ Industry Awards black-tie Dinner at The Cordis, Auckland, attended by around 800 guests.

The Annual Conference is attended by over 400 delegates.

In additional some 50 breakfast/lunchtime/evening presentations are held, all attracting significant member discounts.

INFINZ publishes a Journal twice a year which is free to members and issues regular emails.

AIM & Structure

The INFINZ Mentoring Programme was established in 2014 with the goal of developing younger or less experienced people in the industry and providing a new and interesting proposition to our emerging leaders and young professionals.

This programme aligns with the INFINZ mission to foster professional development and education of members within the New Zealand financial and capital markets.

In 2018, a "two tier" mentoring programme is being established, providing a tailored offering for both Emerging Leaders (EL) and Young Finance Professionals (YFP):

    1. EL mentor programme: Senior mentors will be assigned to a new cohort of EL mentees, each of whom will be expected to mentor a YFP in 2019.
    2. YFP mentor programme: The EL candidates that were accepted into the 2017 EL mentoring programme will act as mentors to a new YFP cohort of mentees in 2018.

Read the following extracts from the INFINZ Journal:

"A Two Way Street" - the benefits of those taking part in INFINZ's Mentoring Programme (December 2017 Pg 13)

"Lean on Me" - Roimata Mitchell shares her Mentoring experience (December 2016 Pg 12)

Below is an outline of the selection and appointment process.

  • A subcommittee of the INFINZ Board has been formed, tasked with running the mentor programme.
  • A panel of mentors has been put together but additional mentors are welcome as this will add to the number of potential mentees able to be assisted - please contact the Executive Director, Jim McElwain on
  • The programme is aimed at mentee applicants with at least 2 years work experience, and who are under 40 years ole.
  • INFINZ Sub-commitee to assess applicants and select up to 18 EL and 18 YFP mentees, and match each to a mentor. The aim of this process will be to find good matches, and also to foster cross-discipline learning across the industry subsets represented in the mentor group.
  • Mentors and mentees put in touch and interaction begins.
  • Mentoring contact proposed to run from April to the end of March. At least monthly contact between mentors and mentees is recommended, ideally face-to-face, with perhaps brief phone or email contact between those meetings.

  • Content or mentoring process should be left up to each mentor/mentee pair, based on the pairs' respective backgrounds and aspirations.
  • The sub-committee will review the programme at the end of the year with the mentors and mentees, with the aim of continually evolving and refining the programme over time.
  • Two networking events are held in each of Auckland and Wellington during the mentoring year, where current and past mentees can meet the current mentors, board members and other selected senior members.

and Supporters

We are very pleased to acknowledge the many organisations that sponsor our events. Their ongoing support is very much appreciated by the Board and Members of INFINZ.

All of the INFINZ events held over the course of each year offer sponsorship opportunities to business within the industry and to those who wish to gain the attention of the professionals within the industry.

INFINZ, can work with any interested parties to generate a portfolio of benefits from our events and can help potential sponsors identify how those benefits can deliver value to the sponsor, the people attending the events and INFINZ.

We aim to tailor each sponsorship to the needs of the sponsor and can tie together packages that incorporate events, website exposure and our biannual INFINZ Journal which is not only sent to all our members but also many other interested parties and which are displayed in the Air New Zealand Koru lounges in New Zealand and in Sydney.

We also offer trade exhibit opportunities at the annual conference.
