Right now, we're searching for an exceptional Manager, Investment Management to lead our Investment Management team. This newly created role and team was designed to reflect the FMA's role in working closely with KiwiSaver and MIS providers and relevant industry associations to ensure the FMA has strong influence over, and a good understanding of, key issues for and within the industry.
Reporting to the Head of Investment Management, you will provide specialist regulatory and/or legal expertise focused on investment management supporting the team and the FMA's regulation function more broadly. As a subject-matter expert, you will support, lead, and develop the team, so the team are seen as innovators, are respected as the FMA's investment management regulation SME and remain abreast of developments in regulation and law governing investment management in New Zealand and globally.
This position will allow you to work closely with other teams across the FMA, especially those responsible for frontline supervision, disclosure, corporate legal, enforcement and policy to ensure an alignment of strategy and a consistent message across these sectors. Externally, you will engage directly with MIS managers, supervisors, and industry associations.
In addition to managing a team you will also have the opportunity to be involved and lead your own work streams with emphasis on developing industry guidance and leading research projects.
We are looking for someone to develop, empower and motivate the team who will be able to quickly establish credibility within the team and across FMA. You will have significant knowledge of the laws and regulations relevant to the financial sector (FMC Act), and you will bring your experience in working with managed investment schemes at a senior level.
Exceptional written and verbal communication and project management skills are essential to your success as you will be responsible for engaging with key stakeholders (both internal and external), to ensure that everyone is informed, involved, and supports initiatives and developments. You will be confident engaging with senior management and boards of regulated entities and government agencies.
