Policy Adviser

Being part of the small collaborative Policy and Legal team at NZX is a great opportunity to be involved in corporate legal work at the heart of New Zealand's markets.

In this role you will influence public policy developments that may impact NZX's businesses and support the maintenance and development of NZX's existing rules and guidance. In addition, the Policy Adviser provides support for NZX's regulatory affairs, including by assisting in obtaining international accreditations to support NZX's growth, in line with our strategy.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Monitoring legislative and regulatory developments, including drafting submissions in respect of legislative and regulatory changes.
  • Drafting amendments to NZX's market rules and procedures, and discussion and consultation documents in relation to proposed rule amendments. Managing the consultation process.
  • Researching international regulatory regimes, and assisting with preparing applications for international accreditations to enable NZX to deliver on its strategy.

To be successful in the role you'll have:

  • A relevant tertiary qualification (such as a law, economics or finance degree, or an arts degree).
  • At least three years' experience in legal, policy or capital markets.
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to think conceptually.
  • Intellectual curiosity, a desire to understand novel concepts.
  • A clear and professional communication style.
  • An ability to produce clear, logically structured analysis and submissions.
  • Strong research skills.
