About the Role
As an Investment Associate, you will join Booster's Direct Investments team and work alongside experienced investment professionals focused on venture capital investing through the Booster Innovation Fund.
You will help identify, assess and support investments in some of New Zealand's most exciting emerging companies. From university commercialisation opportunities and early-stage technology ventures through to portfolio company monitoring and valuation activities, you will be involved in every stage of the investment process.
This is a highly varied role that combines investment analysis, relationship management, strategic thinking and ecosystem engagement.
You'll work closely with:
- Founders and startup leadership teams
- University commercialisation offices
- Other venture capital funds and co-investors
- Industry experts and advisers
- The Booster Innovation Fund Investment Committee
What You'll Be Doing
- Building and assessing a pipeline of investment opportunities
- Conducting market research, financial analysis and commercial due diligence
- Evaluating business models, technologies and growth opportunities
- Preparing investment papers and recommendations for investment decision-making
- Supporting portfolio company monitoring, valuations and performance reporting
- Engaging with founders, investors and innovation ecosystem stakeholders
- Contributing to governance, compliance and investor reporting requirements
- Helping develop Booster's profile within New Zealand's innovation and venture capital ecosystem
About You
We're looking for someone who is intellectually curious, commercially minded and excited by the prospect of backing New Zealand's next generation of innovative companies.
You may come from venture capital, private equity, technology commercialisation, startups or another analytical environment.
You'll bring
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- An interest in technology, innovation and entrepreneurship
- Financial modelling and investment analysis capability
- A collaborative approach and strong relationship-building skills
- The ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-moving environment
- High levels of integrity, professionalism and attention to detail
Ideally, you'll have at least three years' relevant experience and a tertiary qualification in business, finance, economics, science or a related discipline.
