About the Opportunity

This is a broad and highly visible Legal Counsel role, reporting to the General Counsel and working closely with stakeholders across the business.

You will provide practical, commercially focused legal advice across a wide range of matters, supporting both day-to-day operations and strategic initiatives. This is a true generalist in-house role with exposure to lending, funding, corporate, regulatory and technology matters.

Key areas of focus include:

• Advising on financial services regulation, lending frameworks and compliance obligations

• Drafting and negotiating a wide range of commercial agreements

• Supporting funding and investment activities, including investor documentation and structures

• Partnering with the business on product development, digital transformation and growth initiatives

• Contributing to governance, risk and compliance frameworks

• Playing a key role in strategic projects, including potential M&A and expansion opportunities

About You

You are a commercially minded lawyer who enjoys being close to the business and taking a pragmatic, solutions-focused approach.

You will bring:

• A NZ Law degree and current practising certificate

• Ideally 3–6 years’ PQE (though broader ranges may be considered)

• Experience in banking, financial services, corporate or commercial law

• Exposure to lending frameworks (e.g. CCCFA), funds, or broader financial services regulation is highly regarded

• Strong stakeholder management skills and the ability to influence at all levels

• A proactive, hands-on approach
