Te Tūranga | The Role   

Join us as Manager, Financial Advice, where you'll lead a team responsible for supervising and monitoring New Zealand's licensed Financial Advice Providers (FAPs).

This is a highly visible leadership role, combining people leadership, strategic thinking and regulatory oversight. You'll guide the team's supervision activities, identify emerging risks and trends, and help shape the FMA's approach to promoting good conduct and better outcomes for consumers.

You'll also play an important role in building strong industry relationships, engaging with market participants, and working across the FMA to deliver coordinated regulatory outcomes.

Your mahi will include, but not be limited to:

  • Leading, coaching and developing a high-performing team.
  • Overseeing the supervision and monitoring of Financial Advice Providers.
  • Identifying and responding to emerging risks and harms across the sector.
  • Providing advice and recommendations on complex regulatory matters.
  • Building strong relationships with industry participants and stakeholders.
  • Working collaboratively across the FMA to deliver effective regulatory outcomes.

This is a unique opportunity to lead a close-knit team while influencing standards and outcomes across one of Aotearoa’s most diverse financial services sectors.

He kōrero mōu | About you   

We're looking for an experienced people leader who brings strong judgement, a collaborative approach, and the ability to navigate complex issues with confidence.

You'll likely have experience in financial services, regulation, risk, or a related field. Most importantly, you'll be comfortable leading teams, building relationships with a broad range of stakeholders, and translating complex information into practical outcomes.

You'll also bring:

  • Proven experience leading and developing high-performing teams.
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking capability.
  • Ability to navigate ambiguity, apply sound judgement and confidence making decisions in complex environments.
  • Excellent communication, relationship-building and influencing skills.
  • A collaborative leadership style and commitment to developing team culture.
  • Knowledge of the financial advice sector advantageous but not essential.
