Associate Trader – Financial Markets

At Kiwibank, our Financial Markets team helps New Zealand businesses and customers manage foreign exchange and interest rate risk, supporting our purpose of making Kiwi better off. As an Associate Trader, you will step into a development focused role designed to grow your technical capability, commercial confidence, and market insight. You will be supported by experienced traders, encouraged to learn, and trusted to contribute meaningfully, all within a culture that values care, performance, and belonging.

This is an opportunity to be close to the action in Financial Markets. You will support the Trader in managing foreign exchange and interest rate risk, execute and book trades within approved limits, and help ensure the smooth day to day running of the trading book.
You will monitor global markets, assist with pricing and customer flow activity, contribute to end of day reporting, and support the preparation of market commentary and insights. Working closely with your peers you will play a key role in accuracy, control, and risk management while building strong foundations in trading, execution, and systems.

For this role we’re looking for an early career markets professional who is curious, detail focused, and motivated to build a future in trading. We would love to hear from you if you have experience in the following:
- Proven experience supporting financial markets, trading, or treasury activities
- Confident knowledge of New Zealand interest rates, global foreign exchange and central bank activity
- Strong attention to detail with a sharp focus on risk and controls
- Analytical mindset with a genuine interest in market movements
- Confident communicator who builds trusted relationships and connects easily with stakeholders
- Relevant qualification in Finance, Economics, Commerce, or a related field
- Willingness to work toward and maintain industry accreditation and required NZFMA certification
