As a Legal Counsel, you’ll be involved in providing trusted advice that helps deliver good customer outcomes and support Kiwibank’s wider enterprise priorities. Your work may include supporting retail and business banking products, responding to frontline Legal Help Desk queries, advising on customer issues such as complaints, frauds and scams, employment matters, trademarks, regulatory change, Purpose and brand work, and Sustainability and Climate-related disclosures. You may also contribute across key legislation and business initiatives, including digital transformation and third-party partnerships. For this role we’re looking for a capable Legal Counsel with experience in banking or financial services and a willingness to learn across a broad range of work. We would love to hear from you if you have the following:
- Proven experience in private practice or in house with recent exposure to banking or financial services
- Working knowledge of CCCFA, FMCA, FTA and other relevant banking legislation
- Proven ability to provide practical legal advice that balances legal risk and business objectives
- Confidence in applying legal advice in line with organisational priorities and risk profile
- Strong analytical skills to support effective problem solving
- Strong communication skills with the ability to influence
- Experienced in working proactively, managing workload and working both independently and with others
- Tertiary qualification in law and current practicing certificate (or ability to hold)
