Investment Director
About the Role - Tēnei tūranga
As an Investment Director, you will lead a team responsible for the assessment, stewardship and performance of a portfolio of significant Crown investments. You'll provide commercial leadership across the investment lifecycle while contributing as a senior leader within the Investment Management Branch.
What you’ll be doing:
- Lead the management and stewardship of a portfolio of significant Crown investments.
- Assess, structure and negotiate complex investment opportunities and funding arrangements.
- Monitor performance and manage commercial, delivery, financial and reputational risks.
- Provide strategic advice and recommendations to Ministers and senior decision makers.
- Build trusted relationships with iwi and Māori organisations, local government, industry and investment partners.
- Lead and develop a high-performing team whilst contributing to branch-wide leadership and investment practice.
Skills and Experience Required - Ngā pukenga me ngā wheako e hiahiatia ana
We're interested in hearing from experienced commercial leaders with backgrounds in investment, banking, corporate finance, infrastructure, project finance, private equity, venture capital, advisory or related fields.
To be successful in this role, ideally, you'll bring:
- Strong commercial judgement and the ability to evaluate complex investment opportunities, risks and outcomes.
- An ability to influence decision making and provide clear, evidence-based advice in complex environments.
- Experience building and managing trusted relationships across government, industry, investors, local government, iwi and Māori organisations, or other senior stakeholders.
- Proven leadership capability, including developing people and contributing to high-performing teams.
- Excellent communication, influencing and negotiation skills.
- The ability to work confidently in complex, ambiguous and politically sensitive environments.
- Must have the legal right to live and work in New Zealand
An understanding of the machinery of government or experience working in the public sector is desirable, but not essential.
