Milford’s Line 1 Operational Risk & Compliance team partners closely with the business to provide practical risk and compliance support, helping teams identify, manage and mitigate risk effectively. The team plays an important role in strengthening controls, supporting business change, improving processes, and driving a strong risk and compliance culture across the organisation.

About the Role

This role provides specialist operational risk and compliance support across a range of business units, with a particular focus on controls testing, remediation, risk assessments, reporting and continuous improvement.

You’ll work closely with stakeholders across the business to support effective risk management practices, strengthen control environments, and provide meaningful insight that supports informed decision-making.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supporting the design and operating effectiveness testing of controls

  • Coordinating and facilitating risk assessments and remediation activities

  • Supporting business units with incident, issue and action management

  • Analysing risk information and trends to provide practical insights and reporting

  • Assisting with external controls audit engagements and evidence gathering

  • Supporting the implementation and embedding of risk management frameworks and processes

  • Identifying opportunities to improve, automate and streamline controls and reporting

  • Contributing to continuous improvement initiatives and risk culture development

  • Partnering with stakeholders across the business to ensure risk is consistently understood and managed

  • Supporting the safe and effective use of data, analytics and AI-enabled practices within Line 1 risk activities

Key to Success in the Role

You’ll bring operational risk/compliance/audit experience, excellent communication skills, and a pragmatic approach to working with stakeholders. You’re comfortable balancing detail with commerciality and enjoy helping teams solve problems and improve processes.

We’re looking for someone with:

  • 3+ years’ experience in risk, compliance, controls testing, audit or assurance

  • Strong understanding of operational risk management and control frameworks

  • Experience testing controls and supporting remediation activities

  • Experience within financial services, ideally banking, insurance, wealth or funds management

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capability, including the ability to interpret and communicate risk insights

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to engage stakeholders across all levels of the business

  • High attention to detail and the ability to manage competing priorities effectively
