Associate / Associate Director – Investment Banking mandate
Murray & Co is a leading partner-owned independent investment banking and advisory firm, with an established track record spanning more than two decades advising corporates, shareholders and investors on major New Zealand and cross-border transactions.
This appointment represents an opportunity to join the firm at an experienced level and play a key role in executing M&A, debt and equity capital raising mandates and other complex corporate transactions. Working directly with Murray & Co’s senior bankers and clients, the successful candidate will take meaningful responsibility across transactions from origination through to completion.
The role will suit an experienced investment banking or corporate finance professional with strong execution capability who is ready to take greater responsibility for deal processes, client relationships and junior team members.
Key responsibilities include:
- Executing M&A, debt and equity capital raising mandates and other corporate advisory transactions
- Managing key workstreams across live mandates and taking responsibility for the quality and delivery of transaction outputs
- Developing financial models, valuations, transaction materials and strategic analysis
- Coordinating due diligence and managing interactions with clients, advisers and other stakeholders
- Managing and developing Analysts and other junior team members
- Working directly with senior bankers and clients throughout each process
We’re seeking candidates who offer:
- Relevant experience within investment banking, corporate finance, transaction advisory, project or leveraged finance, debt advisory, in-house M&A/corporate development and strategy, or private equity
- Strong M&A and/or capital markets transaction execution experience
- Excellent financial modelling, valuation and analytical capability
- Demonstrated ability to manage transaction workstreams and competing priorities
- Technical depth with commercial instinct
- Clear, confident written and verbal communication skills
- The ability to effectively manage and develop junior team members
- The ability to build trusted relationships with clients and senior stakeholders
The level of appointment will reflect the successful candidate’s experience and capability, with scope to appoint at either Associate or Associate Director level. We also welcome interest from New Zealand investment banking professionals currently offshore and considering a return home.
