Christchurch City Holdings Limited (CCHL) is the commercial and investment arm of Christchurch City Council. As the owner and governance organisation for several of the city’s core infrastructure assets, CCHL plays a vital role in supporting Christchurch’s growth. It is responsible for managing and governing the Council's investments in six trading companies: Orion New Zealand Ltd, Christchurch International Airport Ltd, Lyttleton Port Company Ltd, Enable Networks Ltd, City Care Ltd, and EcoCentral Ltd.
CCHL's assets are valued at approximately $6 billion. It is an organisation of significant commercial scale, responsible for infrastructure assets that underpin the city's social, economic, and environmental development.
Calling directors to register interest
CCHL is currently seeking to appoint two directors to its subsidiary Board, Lyttelton Port Company Ltd (LPC). One of these appointments is for an experienced director with the skills and expertise to chair the Audit and Risk Committee.
LPC is the largest port by container volume in the South Island and a vital part of New Zealand's supply chain. LPC plays a crucial role in the import and export trade, facilitating the direct shipment of South Island cargo to international markets and dricing economic growth.
LPC's vision is to become New Zealand's most sustainable and innovative maritime gateway. Committed to future developments and advancing the South Island Hub strategy, ensuring sustained growth and resilience in the global market.
Both LPC and CCHL are committed to maintaining an inclusive and collaborative boardroom culture, and a range of attributes are being sought across the two appointments with specific focus on:
- Deep governance experience in an aligned sector.
- Strong financial acumen, including ability to contribute to the audit and risk committee.
- Experience overseeing large capital projects.
- Background in complex infrastructure or asset heavy environments.
- Technology transformation.
Local government affinity and connection to Christchurch or the wider Canterbury region is also valued, as is genuine respect and desire to engage collaboratively with Christchurch City Council and CCHL.
