Ngā Kōrero mō tēnei tūranga / About the role As a Senior Analyst within the Deals Strategy team, you’ll work as part of a high-performing, market-leading team delivering commercial due diligence and value creation insights across a diverse client base. Our clients include leading corporates, private enterprises, public-sector organisations, and government agencies across New Zealand, Trans-Tasman, and global markets.
You’ll play a key role in supporting the delivery of complex engagements, contributing to high-quality analysis, and helping shape strategic recommendations for clients.
This role suits someone who is inquisitive, proactive, and personable, with strong analytical capability and a collaborative approach to client work.
Key responsibilities include:
- Supporting the delivery of projects across commercial due diligence and/or value creation engagements.
- Conducting primary and secondary research, including industry and market analysis using online tools, proprietary databases, and public sources.
- Developing structured analyses such as market sizing, competitor benchmarking, customer insights, and financial/operational assessments.
- Assisting in the preparation of client deliverables, including reports, presentations, and discussion materials.
- Coordinating effectively with team members and contributing to a collaborative team environment.
- Building strong working relationships with internal stakeholders and contributing to positive client interactions.
- Supporting and informally mentoring junior team members where appropriate.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Engineering, Business, or related field.
- At least 2-3 years’ experience in a global or boutique strategy house, or a strategy/M&A function within a large corporate.
- A keen interest in solving commercial problems for clients as they test and refine investment hypotheses for transactions.
- Well-developed quantitative, analytical, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to structure and communicate insights clearly, both verbally and in written deliverables
- Familiarity with core analytical techniques such as market sizing, forecasting, competitor analysis, customer segmentation, and business case assessment
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple workstreams and deadlines
- A collaborative mindset and willingness to support team development
