Advisor, Portfolio Risk
Are you motivated by the opportunity to help shape how we manage financial risk to the RBNZ's balance sheet? This is a key leadership role within the Financial Markets Department of New Zealand's central bank.
Te tūranga - The role
The Portfolio Risk team ensure that financial risks to the RBNZ's balance sheet are identified, measured, monitored and managed in line with the Bank's risk appetite. It is critical that this is enabled by robust data, systems and functionality.
The team ensure that risks are communicated effectively measured, managed and understood, providing day-to-day support to portfolio managers and supporting oversight by senior management, Assets and Liabilities Committee and the Board. The team also contribute to broader work, supporting the RBNZ's strategic objectives and effective management of its balance sheet.
In this role you will:
- Lead oversight of the team's first line financial risk management activities, including financial risk monitoring, reporting and drive continuous improvement of processes.
- Lead uplift initiatives and strategic financial risk management projects
- Work collaboratively with colleagues across the RBNZ and build strong relationships
- Help to lead a great team, including coaching and developing others.
Ō pūkenga - About you
You will:
- Be an experienced financial market professional, data scientist or central banker with strong quantitative skills.
- Have in-depth knowledge of balance sheets, risk modelling, data and systems, and/or financial instruments. Some understanding of programming languages and data visualisation tools (e.g. SQL, Python and Power BI) would be advantageous.
- Have very effective communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Have a growth mind-set and the ability to build strong internal and external relationships. This will be incredibly valuable to your success in this influential role.
The anticipated appointment range for this role is $142,985 to $158,935(actual salary will be dependent on your skills and experience).
