Craig Renney is the Economist and Director of Policy for the New Zealand Council of Trade Unions.

Craig was the Senior Economic Advisor for Grant Robertson (Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance) and worked with Jacinda Ardern as Prime Minister.

Craig helped to deliver New Zealand’s first three Wellbeing Budgets and the successful COVID-19 economic response.

Originally from the UK, Craig has worked for the NZ Treasury, MBIE, and the NZ Reserve Bank.

Craig is a regular contributor to media on the economy and politics, and government reform
