Realising New Zealand's Potential: From Ambition to Prosperity
New Zealand has all the ingredients to be one of the most prosperous countries in the world: world-class talent, abundant renewable energy, deep savings pools, and a global diaspora ready to help. What we lack is not the potential but the will to convert it into lasting, shared prosperity. Bowen Pan led the creation of Facebook Marketplace and has held senior leadership roles at Stripe and Common Room. Now back home in Auckland, Bowen is co-chair of Growth NZ, an independent, non-partisan civic think-and-do tank working toward a New Zealand that grows by lifting everyone rather than sliding into managed decline. He will make the case that a prosperous New Zealand for all is within reach, set out the structural reforms it demands, and remind the room that whether we get there is our choice to make.
Keynote speaker:
Bowen Pan, Co-Chair of Growth NZ; Founding Product Leader of Facebook Marketplace; Board of NZME, Milford Asset Management; Advisory Board of Revolut NZ, University of Auckland Business School

Debate: That the Market is Best Placed to Deliver Energy Sector Resilience
Energy sector resilience is one of the defining challenges of the coming decades and is in sharp relief given the disruption to oil supplies from the gulf. New Zealand is also facing a decline in domestic gas production and electricity prices spiked a couple of years ago. To manage dry-year risk in electricity production, a previous government explored development of a large pumped hydro scheme, and the current government is looking to enter into a contract for the installation and operation of an LNG facility. This debate will put the proposition to the test: is the market best placed to deliver the resilience our energy sector needs, or does the scale and complexity of the challenge demand a different approach? Speakers will argue for and against the moot.
Speakers to be Announced.
